Put Away

Set up for automatic or manual put away...

The put away transaction is the next step after receiving or inspection. System settings determine whether the put away transaction requires a manual scan, or if items are automatically put away into pre-defined inventory locations. GBMS lets you define the put away transaction at the warehouse, item category, and item level. Whether via an automatic or manual method, it is not until a put away transaction is processed to a warehouse location that items are released for picking or movement.

Flexible options...

The put away transaction addresses the “who, what, when, and where” of inventory just received. The system can direct the put away process based on a rich set of parameters. You can set up these parameters according to your company’s unique requirements. On a product-by-product or warehouse basis, decide whether to force manual put away into inventory, or require that GBMS automatically record items as put away into pre-defined default inventory locations.

Inventory levels updated in real-time…

If a manual put away is required, an employee uses a hand-held device with the GBMS DC application to scan the put away location label, barcoded item label, and quantity being put away. The system stamps the put away transaction with the date and time as well as the ID of the user performing the transaction. The scanned transactions are instantly transferred to the computer system through the RF connection, and inventory levels are updated in real-time.

Instantly generate the put away advice...

If you prefer a hardcopy (vs. online) document, you can generate a put away advice directly from the put away processing screen. The advice lists the items to be put away as well as the suggested locations and quantities.

Using a hand-held device, you can perform picking by scanning the location, item, and quantity.
