On-The-Water Inventory Tracking

Track items in-transit by container number...
With GBMS, you can record and track shipping information for containerized items that are purchased and shipped from overseas.

Create a transit warehouse...
Items are tracked On-The-Water (OTW) via a transit warehouse that is defined in GBMS. When a buyer creates a PO for an overseas vendor, the destination warehouse is identified as a transit warehouse. Each transit warehouse has a pre-defined destination warehouse where the goods will eventually arrive.

Simplified purchasing and receiving process...
The PO is entered and approved in the standard manner. When the overseas vendor ships against the PO, a receipt is created in the transit warehouse for each inbound container. Also, a transfer PO is automatically created allowing each container to eventually be received into the destination warehouse.

The original PO is updated, and ownership is assumed, as soon as items arrive at the transit warehouse.

Once containers reach the warehouse from overseas, receiving clerks scan the container number and receive the contents in the same manner they would for a standard PO.

Add-on vendor portal...
If a company has purchased a GBMS Vendor Portal for shipment notifications, no user intervention is required to create the receipt in the transit warehouse; the vendor simply submits the information (container ID's, container contents, estimated date of arrival, etc.) via a secure web site. Otherwise, users must key the information into the receiving screen manually.

Query estimated arrival dates...
The Inbound Item Inquiry screen allows buyers to query estimated arrival dates by data, such as item number, PO number, and container ID ('tracking number').

Flexible report tools...
Use any of the standard purchasing or inventory reports to track OTW inventory by purchase order or transit warehouse.
