Inventory Adjustments

Easily adjust inventory levels...

From time-to-time, you might need to adjust inventory without referencing some other transaction. For example, a spot location count (separate from scheduled inventory counts) may reveal shrinkage. In this case, the easiest method for correcting inventory at that location is to perform an inventory adjustment.

Inventory adjustments let you add to or reduce from stock items in a particular warehouse. You could adjust inventory, for example, for the following scenarios:

· Entering beginning inventory totals in your GBMS database

· Depending on your inventory audit schedule, the system might perform inventory adjustments quite often for physical inventories and cycle counts

· Manually adjusting inventory to correct data inaccuracy due to user error

Perform adjustments from either the main graphical user interface or a hand-held device...

You can perform the inventory adjustment transaction from either the main graphical user interface or from the data collection hand-held device. To perform an adjustment, the system prompts you to enter the item ID (or, if using the DC, the item’s scan code), location for adjustment, applicable tracking information (serial or lot number), quantity to adjust, and adjustment reason code.

Record adjustment reason codes…

The adjustment codes are user-maintained codes that enable users to identify the reason for performing the adjustment. These codes are recorded with the adjustment transaction and tracked in the Inventory Transaction Inquiry screen.

Use separate privileges to protect transactions...

In GBMS, the inventory adjustment transaction is protected via a specific user privilege, which is typically reserved for advanced users, such as an inventory controller or warehouse manager. These separate privileges protect the transaction for both the main graphical user interface and the data collection user interface.
