GBMS fully supports Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), enabling companies to transmit business data between computers without needing to re-enter data. The EDI functionality saves users time and money by replacing any paper transaction (sales order, purchase order, invoice, etc.) with an electronic document transmission. This leads to a faster, more efficient method of exchanging information with customers, distributors, suppliers, and more. A scenario… For example, in a typical non-EDI purchase order scenario, a buyer would enter purchasing data into a screen to create a PO. He would then print the PO and mail it to the vendor. A day or two later, the vendor would receive the PO and post it to their order entry system. The entire process would usually take three to five days. Using the EDI functionality, however, the buyer could simply create the purchase order and transmit the order to the vendor within minutes. No printing or postage required. The vendor would then receive the PO, update his order system, and transmit acknowledgement—within a matter of minutes. Benefits... GBMS’ complete support of the EDI functionality means: · Cost and time savings (less record maintenance, postage costs, printing, etc.) · Faster communication · Reduced paper documents · Minimized data entry · Greater accuracy of information GBMS’ EDI engine is MS SQL-based with user-defined functions and DTS, and can handle an unlimited number of partners and templates. |
